Huawei Ascend G312 (U8680) lands at FCC, unsurprisingly sports T-Mobile myTouch moniker
It's far from a secret that T-Mobile has been cooking up its next myTouch handset with Huawei (also known as the Ascend G312), and now a phone bearing the same moniker has landed at the door of the FCC. According to the label location diagrams, it plays nice with HSPA, UMTS, GPRS, GSM and Edge, but there's no indication of whether this Huawei U8680 is the QWERTY variant we spotted at the company's headquarters. If you'll recall, Huawei has this 4-inch (WVGA) device pegged to ship with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, running atop a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255T SoC with 1GB of RAM that's supplemented by 4GB of on-board storage. Of course, this doesn't leave us with any more information about when T-Mobile will officially debut this next-gen myTouch, but for now, you can can view the currently available FCC documents at the source link below.

For a person with talent who is considering a career in music or film and theatre acting, the place to study is the Los Angeles Conservatory. It is the west coast campus of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA). Offered are four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in music or dance theatre, acting and performing arts. Two-year certificate programs are also available which include the Integrated Program, comprised of acting, musical theatre and dance; the Studio Program which is acting for stage, television and film; and the Dance Theatre Program which studies dance theatre for the performing arts.
The American Musical and Dramatic Academy was founded in 1964 in New York by Philip H. Burton, an actor and acting teacher. Burton?s idea was to create a school with pupils taught by working performing artists. AMDA is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. In the late 1970s, David and Jan Martin took over from Burton. They founded the Los Angeles Conservatory in 2003 and are the current executive and creative directors. Being close to Hollywood, the location is a natural for a school of the performing arts. Its alumni include actor Gretchen Mol.
Admission to the conservatory is by audition. Auditions are held throughout the year across the United States, Canada, in Sao Paulo, Brazil and London, England. A non-refundable fee of $50 is required. Scholarships and financial aid is available to U.S.-based students. Many AMDA alumni appear in plays and musicals on Broadway and in London?s West End.

With the future of the health care law emerging as a major campaign issue this fall, a new survey has found that more than a quarter of adults ages 19 to 64 in the United States lacked health insurance for at least some time in 2011.
The vast majority of those people, nearly 70 percent, also had been without coverage for more than a year, partly because plans sold on the individual market were unaffordable, according to the study by the Commonwealth Fund, a nonprofit organization that analyzes health care issues.
The study, which polled 2,100 people, found that the percentage without insurance equals about 48 million people when measured against U.S. Census data. The results have a 3 percentage point margin of error.
Research, including the Commonwealth Fund survey, indicates that people without health insurance often skip needed medical care and do not get vital preventive services such as cancer screenings.
According to the survey, 74 percent of women ages 40 to 64 with health insurance had received a mammogram in the previous two years. In contrast, just 28 percent of women in that age group who had been without insurance for a year or more received a mammogram.
The Commonwealth Fund said more than 40 percent of those who lost insurance had been covered by employer-sponsored plans. An additional 18 percent were dropped from Medicaid rolls, and 27 percent had never been insured.
Employer-provided insurance is a main pillar of the U.S. health care market, covering the health care needs of about 150 million nonelderly people. Employer coverage has become increasingly expensive in recent years, prompting many companies to reduce benefits or raise costs for their workers.
The results provide a snapshot of the $2.6 trillion U.S. health care system at a time when government officials are wrestling with stubbornly high unemployment rates and uncertainty about the future of the federal health care overhaul.
The law would seek to close gaps in health insurance beginning in 2014 by extending coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans, either by subsidized state insurance markets or an expansion of the Medicaid program for the poor.
The law could be overturned by the Supreme Court on constitutional grounds before the end of June. It also faces repeated calls for repeal from Republican candidates running in this year's election campaign.

Wiipop incorporates Kinect camera and several Wiimotes into a veritable electric boogaloo
Sure, we've seen plenty of dancing games harness the Wii and Kinect's unique motion capture systems, but the Wiipop prototype takes things to another level, combining the technology of both with some pro-level dance moves. The game utilizes the Kinect's 3D camera and up to eight body-mounted Wiimotes, letting players improvise freestyle dance moves in a SingStar-like game, matching body pops to beats in a song. The game's not quite ready for primetime, but when it is, Christian "Mio" Loclair sees its potential beyond simple gameplay. The title could, perhaps, be used to help design choreographed productions or to generate and trigger visual effects for live performance. In the meantime, pop and lock into the video after the break.
