When you decide to sell a home, there will nearly always be a to-do list that comes with this decision. If you can?t get everything on it done, there are some things that will affect your end result far more than others. If you need to pick and choose off your honey-do list for home-selling, check out these high-payoff repairs before you get started.
- Fix your floor
If you have hardwood, then flaunt it. Pull up the carpet and polish the floors ?til they shine. And if you have shag carpet, shed it. If you can?t replace it with wood, then at least get a new style installed. Also clean grout in bathrooms and fix or replace cracked tiles. This is a relatively painless process that will definitely pay off. - Spruce up your ceilings
This is the type of ceiling you DON'T want your buyers to see!
Did you know buyers spend an inordinate amount of time looking up? Surveys show that this is actually to check for signs of water damage, but your home sale could be collateral damage if you have stained, scuffed, smoky or greasy ceilings. Paint them! - Boost the look of the bathroom
Even in today?s market bathroom renovations tend to recoup 100 percent of their cost ? if you are careful to evaluate current trends. Many people are steering away from the ?spa experience? bathroom and going more minimal ? but with sleek new fixtures. At a minimum, clean up, paint and install new cabinet hardware. This is another area where buyers spend a lot of time looking for water damage. Make sure that the areas under your sink are spotless!
What are the home repairs that you feel matter the most before a sale?
